Powai is a major Commercial and Residential area of Mumbai. It is at the center of Mumbai Suburbs area so there is no connectivity with Local trains but Kanjur Marg is the Nearest and easily reachable Railway station for Powai.

Powai has two major property Landmarks. First one is residential known as "Hiranandani Gardens" and other is a commercial one called "Hiranandani Business Park". This Business center has many offices hence a number of young software professionals prefer to stay around these areas of Powai. In powai sharing basis accommodations for working males can be found in around 5500/- per month. Single rooms are difficult to find but if you are lucky enough, you may get it in the range of 8 - 12 k per month.

Generally the South Mumbai part is known to be costlier than the western suburbs Like Andheri, Vile-parle and Khar-Bandra belt. Areas of northern Mumbai like Borivali, Kandivali and Mira Road are even cheaper.

Furnished room in these areas can cost you uotp 12 to 15 thousand rupees plus the security deposit. If you get an accomodation through a broker then you may require to pay the brokerage, that is generally equivalent to one month's rent.

Most male paying guest accomodations are on sharing basis. Just like Bandra, the East side of Andheri is basically an industrial area so there are limited option for paying guest accomodations for male but Andheri west is known more as a residential area and there better options are available.

Andheri west, along with bandra, is most sought after area of Mumbai for residential or paying guest accomodations.
